The Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. iJ. Savage), who is in the South Is- ! land, is expected. to return to "Wellington on Thursday morning. The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) left for the South Island today. He is due to return on Friday, and proposes after that to visit | the Wairarapa and Palmerstoh North districts. The Minister of Public Works (tha Hon. R. Semple) is due back in Wellington at the end of the week. He 19 to open the Nelson aerodrome on Saturday next. Mr. E. S. Esdaile will leave Wellington for the north by the-Limited express tonight. . . Mr. Charles H. Metz, of Perth, Western Australia, accompanied by Mrs. Metz, arrived from Auckland yesterday after an extended tour of America and the East. - Mr. A. D. Heany, secretary of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, left Wellington today for Wanganui, to give an address to the annual meeting of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. Mr. W. Stevens, chief reader of tha Government Printing Office, who i 3 retiring on superannuation after thirty-five years' service, was-the recipient of several presentations from the staff. The gift of a travelling rug was made by the Government Printer (Mr. E. V. Paul), on behalf of the Overseers' Association, a wristlet watch was the gift of the reading branch, whilst Mr. A. D.: Robbie, on behalf of the typographical ■ branch, made the presentation of a fireside chair. Mr. Stevens, in appropriately acknowledging the gifts, traced his connection with the Printing Office bacK jto 1893. ■ i Mr. F. G. Nind, chief postmaster" at Invercargill, who has been appointed senior inspector at the Wellington Post Office, was farewelled by representatives of the staff last week. Mr. | Nind left Invercargill yesterday, but before coming to Wellington he will relieve Mr. N. R. Mclsaac, postmaster at Dunedin, for annual holidays. ;
