(Received October 3, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 2. British miners have agreed to sup* port 1000 destitute Spanish children for seven years, maintaining homes erected by the loyalist Government itt. Spain. bels, the Propaganda Minister, and Herr Ribbentrop, the Foreign Minister. But even the last-named's 'en« thusiasm is believed to have wanedi when Britain mobilised her fleet. It is possible that Mr. Duff-Cooper, who has resigned from the Admiralty, and who ordered the mobilisation of the fleet, will state on October 4 ia the House of Commons his belief that war could also have been avoided if a firmer stand had been taken and that peace was secured unnecessarily; by concessions to threats.
