COMPLIMENTARY CONCERT.

, On Thursday night, in the Town Hall, Wellington musicians and citii zens generally will foregather to express their appreciation of Mr. H. Temple White's completion of 25 years' work in the cause of music in New Zealand. This unanimous tribute will take the form of a grand concert, the programme of which is to be performed by the Dominion's leading artists. Never before, perhaps, in this country's musical history has such an array of outstanding talent been combined in one programme for a similar purpose. The names of the committee and of the participants in this unique function are as follows:—Patron, the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop; chairman, Mr. P. L. Brady; committee, Mrs. Knox Gilmer, Mrs. W. H. P. Walsh, Miss Valeric Corliss, Captain M. S. Galloway, Messrs. W. M. Page. C. A. Rendle, L. D. Austin, Stanley Oliver, A. Ironside, G. Laking. H. A. Pargetter, L. J. de Mauny; hon. secretary, Mr. C. Meachen. Assisting artists: Massed choir of 400 voices; conductor, Stanley Oliver; the Light Symphony Orchestra, conductor, Leon de Mauny; Paul and Diny Schramm, piano duo; Myra Sawyer, soprano; Ava Synions, violinist; Geoffrey Colledge, baritone; Clement Howe, organist; Tudor Singers, conductor, H. Temple White; Gertrude Johnston, pianist; accompanist. Harold Whittle. Programme items will include choruses from "Messiah" (Handel) and "Elijah" (Mendelssohn), orchestral numbers by Schubert, Jarnefeldt, and Liszt an excerpt from Cesar Ffanck's Sonata for violin and piano; various solo vocal items, and two examples of music for two pianos, contributed by the famous duo-pianists, Paul and Diny Schramm. After an address by the Mayor, there will be a presentation to Mr. Temple White. Box plans are now open at Begg's.
