Wright, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd.; and Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having received cable advice from their London house regarding the London wool sales, reading as follows: — The sstfes closed .before a smaller attendance of buyers than usual. Competition was good and Bradford buyers were the chief operators—B3,ooo bales were offered during the series, and of these 71,000 were sold. An average selection of wool was offered. We quote the following average realisations: —Greasy merino, 60/64, yielding 48 per cent., 12d; greasy fine halfbred, 56/58, 62 per cent., 12d; greasy half[bred, 50/56, 68 per cent., Hid; greasy three-quarter-bred, 48/50, 74 per cent, lOJd; greasy fine crossbred, 46/48, 75 per cent., 10£ d; greasy medium crossbred, 44/46, 75 per cent, 10id; greasy crossbred, 40/44, 76 per cent., lOJd; greasy coarse crossbred, 36/40, 76 per cent., 10id; greasy crossbred lambs, 46/50, 74 per cent, IOJd. Closing rates for all grades were firm to Jd up on prices at the commencement bf the series. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated September 30. The auctions closed here today firm, buyers operating freely. The abnormal prices paid on September 28 have not been maintained owing to the great improvement in the political situation. The total quantity offered, 86,032 bale?; sold, 71,000 bales; carried forward, 61,500 bales, including 23,500 from New Zealand. Compared with the opening rates, we quote:—Greasy merino, best id per lb higher,: average id; fine halfbreds, 50/56's, id; extra fine crossbreds, 48/50'S, id to fd; fine crossbreds, 46/48's, id to id; medium, 44/46's, id to 3d; coarse, 40/44's, id to 3d; low, 36/40's, id to id; slipe wools generally, id, all higher. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company has received the following advice from its -London house, dated September 30:—-The fifth series of sales closed firmly today. Home buyers were the principal operators. Competition for merino continues active, and prices are firm, but for crossbred the market iss slightlyweaker. As compared with the fourth series, prices are as follows:—Merino, inferior scoured, medium, inferior greasy, id per lb lower; superior scoured, par'to id per lb lower; crossbred, coarse scoured, par to id per lb higher; medium greasy, id per' lb higher; coarse greasy and slipe fine, id to Id per lb higher; slipe, medium and coarse, ld per lb highelf. Quotations for good average New Zealand greasy fleece wool:-—64's, 10id to 12d per lb; 60/64's, 10id to 12d; 56/58's, 10id to 12; 56's, 10|d to llid; 50's, IOJd to ll^d; 48/50*s, lOd to Hid; 48's, lOd to Hid; 46/48's, lOd to HJd. . Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, London, report:—Sales closed active with good competition but not at the highest point of series. Home trade principal operators. Continent active until beginning of second week.
