MILK-ROUND SCUFFLE
INSPECTOR AND ROUNDSMAN
CONVICTIONS AGAINST BOTH
A scuffle between a milk roundsman and a milk inspector in Glenmore Street on August 12 resulted in both being convicted of different charges by Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon. Charges ,of carrying diluted milk with milk for sale or delivery were preferred against Charles John jDuffy, Makara, dairy farmer, and Charles Bernard Duffy* his son, a milk roundsman. Duffy, junior, who was also charged with obstructing an officer, brought a charge of assault against Frederick William Rawlinson, City Milk Inspector.
THe Crown Prosecutor, Mr. W. H. Cunningham, appeared for the inspector, and Mr. W. P. Rollings appeared for the Duffys, who pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The charges of the carrying of fluid were dismissed, Duffy junior, was fined £5 on a charge of obstruction, with costs and solicitor's fee, Rawlinson was convicted of assault and fined £1, with costs and solicitor's fee, half the amount of the fine to go to Duffy, junior, as compensation.
