Wellington nominations are due at 5 p.m. on Monday.
Weights for the C.J.C. Stewards' Handicap are due to appear on the eve of the Wellington Meeting. Most New Year meetings this season will be held on Saturday and Monday, December 31 and January 2. ""' Racing next week at Ohinemuri (Monday), Dunedin (Thursday and Saturday), Hawke's Bay (Friday and Saturday), and Auckland (Saturday and the following Monday). Willie Win will be ridden in the New Zealand Cup by C. G. Goulsbro'. Wotan is due to make his reappearance either at Hastings or at Masterton. Not much' has been heard about him since he last raced at the Auckland Winter Meeting, but he is said to be doing well at New Plymouth.
Cherry Plum, the half-brother to Chief Cook, Cherry King, and Jack Homer, was the biggest of the Beau Peres raced last season, and though he won only one small race he promised to be one of the best of them as a three-year-old. He is due to resume racing at Masterton. The two-year-old Captain Gale, whose name has recently. been registered, introduces a little-known sire. This is Night Fox, who is a halftirother to Diacquenod to the brilliant Galilee but who never raced himself.
