INTER-HOUSE RULES

NEW CONSTITUTION

In reply to the criticism of the conduct of inter-house games made by a correspondent, "Half Back," in last Saturday's "Post," Mr. N. Best, honorary secretary of the Wellington Inter-house Football Association, has written as follows:—

"I wish to point out that the new constitution was only passed at a general meeting on Monday, September 19, and comes into force as from next season.

"Rule 20 reads as follows:—'No club to register or include more than three outside players in their team.' I think your correspondent will agree that the word he missed (i.e. register) places a different meaning to the clause.

"Rule 21 reads: —'Combined business house teams are not allowed any out-

side players. This clause enables two houses to field a combined team only in cases where the applicant houses cannot field a team on their own,, and all players must be employed by one of the houses.

"Rule 28 is correctly quoted, but rule 27 distinctly states that all clubs must register their players, which, I think, will overcome the correspondent's objections. - '. ' , .

"I do not understand how your correspondent has had the opportunity to read the constitution, as I have the only set at the present time, pending the printing and distribution of copies to all the affiliated clubs.

"If your correspondent is really sincere he would have waited until he had read a copy of our rules before rushing into print with k few un^ founded complaints reflecting on the wisdom and judgment of the manage* ment committee,' who give up their time so that their workmates may enjoy Saturday morning footbaU." ■;■-'
