INDEPENDENT'S OFFER
Electioneering in the Lyttelton constituency/took a new-turn yesterday, when the Independent candidate (Mr. W. B. Bray) said that at a meeting at the Woolston School that night he would announce the terms upon which he was prepared to withdraw from the contest, states the "Christchurch Star-Sun." Mr. Bray said he was not prepared to divulge his terms until he faced thet public on the platform. "I intend to issue a challenge to both parties," added Mr. Bray, "and by complying with my wishes they can get me to withdraw. My terms will be hard, but whichever side accepts them will win the seat." Mr. Bray's withdrawal would reduce' the election in the Lyttelton district to a straight-out issue between the sitting Government member (Mr. T. H. McCombs) and the National; candidate (Mr. I. -J. Wilson).
