SALE OF SHEEPSKINS

The fortnightly sale of hides and sheepskins was held in Wellington yesterday before the usual buyers and, under keen competition, a good clearance was made.

Sheepskins can be quoted at id to fd better than the last sale, with occasional lines a full penny up. Hides also made better prices and all weights of cow and ox were l-8d to id per lb up. Kip and yearling sold on a par with late rates, but calfskins appreciated by id to.ld per lb. The range of prices is quoted below: Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 6d to 72d; fine crossbred, 6fd to 7£d; medium, s£d to 7|d; coarse, 5d to 7fd; half-wools, 6d to 7fd; quarter-wools, 3d to 7£d; pelts, ljd.to 3|d. Salted skins: Full wools, 2s to 3s.
