MR. MAZENGARB QUESTIONED
When Mr. O. C. Mazengarb, in the course of an address at Johnsonville last evening, quoted from the book| written by Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., oni Socialism in New Zealand, he was challenged by members of the audience. A voice: The book has, not been published.yet. .. ■■■'• ! Mr. Mazengarb:. Oh, yes, it has., I have read it. A voice: You have only read newspaper reports. Mr. Mazengarb: Pardon me, I have read the book. I read it on Monday last. ■■■■■, A voice: Well, how did you speak about it at Eastbourne three weeks ago? Mr. Mazengarb: I did not. I read it on Monday—2B2 pages with a preface by Major Attlee and Mr. Lee's own foreword and also an appendix on social security, and delivered an address about it at Eastbourne on Monjday night. * A voice: You could not have done any work at your office during the day then. Mr. Mazengarb: No, because Monday was Dominion Day, and we are obliged \to have a holiday that day. (Laughter.)' -
