OVERBOARD AT SEA
RESCUE BY BOATS LUCKY MARIPOSA BELLBOY (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The cry ofJ'Man overboard" rang through the Mariposa as she approached Pago Pago on her way to Auckland. A bellboy had gone overboard in some way. He was seen in the water and the vessel was stopped in time for a boat to be lowered and a rescue effected. The boy was left at Pago Pago. A passenger stated that they were at breakfast when it was noticed that the ship's engines had stopped. They were a day and a half from Pago Pago.. A member of the crew had seen the boy fall and he raised the alarm. The sea was fairly choppy and it was difficult to locate the swimmer. Two boats were lowered and the second one found him. He did not seem to have suffered greatly. The ship was stopped for about two hours. "He was lucky," said another passenger. "He was in the water for an hour and a quarter in a shark-infested area."
