NEGROES TRAPPED
TORNADO AT CHARLESTON DAMAGE DONE IN A MINUTE (Received September. 30, 2 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 29. Twenty-five persons were killed and 350 injured in a tornado at 'Charleston, South Carolina. Negroes were trapped in the old slave market) section, near - the waterfront. Extensive damage was done to buildings and the roof was ripped offj the city hall. Outside communications were destroyed and the power failed. Heavy rain followed, flooding the city. Twenty city squares were seriously damaged. The storm lasted only a minute.
