FORGED WARRANT OF

FITNESS

A plea of guilty to a charge of committing forgery by making a false document in respect of a warrant of fitness was entered by a man whose name was suppressed when he appeared before Mr. A. M. Goulding, S.M., in the Lower Hutt Court yesterday. Mr. C. R. Barrett appeared for the defendant. The evidence was to the effect that the defendant had been requested by the Napier police to call at the Lower Hutt station and produce* the warrant of fitness for his vehicle. An examination of the certificate revealed that alterations had been made to an old warrant of fitness. Although the defendant at first denied making these alterations himself, investigations later proved that he was responsible. . The defendant was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. THE SARJEANT GALLERY » ,„ i (Special to-the "Evening Post.") WANGANUI, September 29.
