SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
The slight depression which was located near Cook Strait yesterday morning has moved off to the east and the Dominion is now covered by an intense anticyclone, the centre of which is in the north. Light variable winds have ruled over the ,North Island, while over the south winds have been mainly moderate northeasterlies to northerlies. Fair to fine weather has prevailed in the north and south. Central districts had unsettled conditions with moderate rains yesterday, but the weather, though jstill cloudy, has improved. Rain is again failing, however, in Westland with the approach of a slight depression. Temperatures have been cool but are rising.
