A BUSY DAY

• Yesterday was a very busy day in . the calendar of the Wellington 3 Y.M.C.A., no less than ten arranged ) functions being held. The full pro- - gramme represented, however, a typical day in the present season. 1 The Optimists' Club met at midday ' and were addressed by Mr. Charles c E. Wheeler, Parliamentary Press cor- £ respondent. In the afternoon there c was a well-attended meeting of the i Ladies' Auxiliary, when plans were 7 completed for next Wednesday's an- - nual spring fair. In the gymnasium 1 the business men's physical fitness session at 5 o'clock was followed by the employed boys' gym. period and by the men's apparatus and . calisthenics , class, the two latter groups concenf trating on practice for the annual • gymnastic carnival to be held at the ; end of next week. The younger men's E "70" Club held its end-of-season ban- • quet; there was a lengthy toast-list, \ the main address being given by Mr. 5 Francis M. Eenner. In the boys' dej partment, the employed boys met for ; their weekly programme, including a { I social-planning session with some i members of the Y.W.C.A. employed i girls' section. The association's debat- ; ■ ing club was host club for the final 1 of the Lyon Medal oratory contest. ! \ The Wellington Swimming Centre met !in the , association's rooms. The : '. Y.M.C.A. Badminton Club played an ' L "away" match as the final fixture ol ' 1 its season.
