INVITATION DECLINED
The chairman of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, Mr. Clive Leonard, has received a cablegram from Gordon Richards, the famous English jockey, declining the invitation of the V.A.T.C. to him and to R. A. Jones to visit Australia and to ride at Caulfield on Boxing Day. "Bob Jones and mys"elf sincerely regret to decline your very kind invitation," the cablegram stated. "The honour and compliment you have paid us will live in our memory always. Our letter'in post explaining why we regretfully take this step." ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS. "Anxious."—K., £4 7s 6d and £2 2s; R., £2 10s and £1 8s 6d. "Punter."—P., £6 19s and £1 11s 6d; V., £1 16s 6d. "R.T.M."—Your money would be on Land Raid. The A.J.C. Derby candidate Aeolus, who was sold by his trainer, P. Riddle, for 1600 guineas, was purchased by Messrs. T. D., C. J., and R. V. Gove. Aeolus won the Rosehill Guineas a fortnight ago in his first start for his new owners, who are residents of Melbourne. It is reported that the colt may jn time. be sent to India. In the meanwhile he is remaining in Riddle's stable.
