RAILWAYMEN'S RESOLUTION
The following resolution was carried unanimously at a well-attended meeting of the Wellington branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants, which has a membership of over 900:—
"That this meeting of members of the Wellington branch of the A.S.R.S. desires to express feelings of solidarity with the people of Czechoslovakia in their persistent struggle for peace and democracy, and we urge the Government to protest to the Chamberlain Government against the granting, of further concessions to Hitler."
Sudeten areas today, and that the President's suggestion for a conference includes Poland and Hungary. It is also confirmed that Mr. Cordell Hull, Secretary of State, approached Japan in an effort to mobilise a sentiment for peace. It is hoped that the bMunich Conference will be followed by a larger conference which will deal with the problem of general appeasement.
