BALL IN ST. FRANCIS HALL

The Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, as patron of the Scottish Harriers and Amateur Athletic Club, attended the club's annual ball which was held last night'in St. FEancis Hall. He was accompanied by Mrs. Hislop. The ball was organised by a combined ladies' and men's committee, and Mrs. F. M. Gilmer undertook the duties of hostess. Others in the official party were Mr. arid Mrs. A. Muir, Mr. George Foster, Mr. and Mrs. James Dowling, Mr. T. McKenzie, and Miss McKenzie, Mr. and Mrs. J. Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. G. Hall, «uad Mr..W. Ballantyne, sen. .The ball was an undoubted success.

. There was a large attendance and the ,- hall, which had been decorated by the men's committee, looked extremely gay. The colour scheme was carried out in the club colours of black, gold, and red. Streamers hung from the

flags, and the lights were covered with Chinese lanterns. Balloons were distributed among the guests who danced with much enthusiasm to the strains

of a good orchestra. A Highland dance was performed by Mr. Keith Muir, and •the "boys" presented an amusing burlesque ballet.
