PROGRESS OF FIGHTING

The following cablegram was received by the Chinese Consul from Hankow this morning:—"ln the south of Honan, during the last few days, we counter-attacked the enemy and yesterday recaptured Looshan; killing and taking prisoners a large number of Japanese, and driving them back to positions five miles west of Whangchuen. There was fierce fighting at Tienkiachen and on all sectors south of the Yangtze River, where the enemy made little progress and suffered very heavy losses."
