KILLED ON RAILWAY
SURFACEMAN AT HAWERA
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) , HAWERA, This Day. Struck by the early train from Hawera to Wanganui this morning James Wilbury Massey Mclntyre, a railway surfaceman, was killed instantly. ' . The fatality occurred about 300 yards from the level crossing at the intersection of High and Gladstone Streets on a section of track that is perfectly straight. How Mclntyre came to be struck is not explained. He left the Hawera station for- his work shortly before the departure of the 7.25 train. About 400 yards south of the crossing he removed the jigger from the track and was about 60 yards from this point when he was struck. The deceased was single, and had been employed by the Department for two years.
