MILD TEMPERATURES

Special forecast for Wellington:— j Lig*ht winds with southerlies predominating. Weather fine. Pleasant day temperatures but cool nights. j The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for winds, light to moderate and variable with south-easterlies pre-, dominating from Nelson and Marlborough northwards. The weather will be fair to fine, with mild day temperatures but cool nights and some ground frosts and morning fogs-. An anticyclone extends from Australia to beyond the Dominion and I under its influence the weather has been beautifully fine everywhere with light variable winds. A very slight depression crossed the South Island last night and caused some cloud in Otago and Canterbury with light rain in a few places. Day temperatures have been pleasantly warm but last night was cold with frost in the South Island and some morning fogs. Auckland yesterday had cloudy mild weather followed by a clear cold night. This morning there was bright sunshine. The wind was light between east and north-east. The maximum J temperature was 62 and the minimum 44.2 degrees. Wellington has had perfect weather with a gentle northerly breeze and almost cloudless skies. There were 11.2 hours of sunshine yesterday and the j maximum temperature was 62.3 and the minimum 45.6 degrees. Christchurch also had ideal weather with a sunny mild day and a clear j cold night,.- There was a sharp frost j of 10.1 degrees and this was followed by fog about daybreak but by 9 a.m. this morning the iog had lifted. The wind was a light to moderate northeasterly yesterday, changing to a southerly at 1 a.m. The maxiirium tempertiture was 61.8 and the minimum 36..4 degrees. Dunedin had bright sun and mild weather yesterday with a light northeasterly breeze. .This morning was overcast with very little sun.
