HISTORICAL NOVEL
A very full canvas is painted by E. V. Timms in "Maelstrom," a lengthy historical novel published by Angus and Robertson, Ltd. Fact and fiction, drama and romance, are interwoven, and the reader is carried from England to France and Canada. There is the Paris of Richelieu's days, England when Cromwell was rising to power, and then the Atlantic is crossed to the wilderness of New France where roamed the dreaded Iroquois Indians. The characters in the story are skilfully drawn and incidents are described so vividly that the reader feels that he or she is living again in those romantic times.
