Temperature, 9 a.m., 51.0deg; relative humidity at 9 a.m., 79 per cent. Maximum temperature yesterday, 51.0deg; minimum temperature last night, 37.5deg; minimum temperature on grass, 30.0deg. Mean wind velocity tut Zi Hours ending 9 a.m. today, 7.2 m.p.h. A very deep cyclone centre crossed the centre of the country during Saturday night and is now located east of Chatham Island. Pressure has risen considerably over the Dominion, au anticyclone now extending from the north Tasman Sea across the northern half of the North Island. Moderate to strong north-west-erly wiuds prevailed on Saturday, but there was a southerly change in the late afternoon in tho far south, and on Sunday the entire Dominion experienced an exceptionally severe south-westerly storm. Gales were general with whole gales in parts of Westland and of the North Island. Winds have since decreased greatly in force and become rather variable in direction. The weather was mainly fair on. Saturday but heavy rain, lasting some hours in many places, together with some thunderstorms and hail, accompanied the change. Except for a few showers in western districts the weather today is fair to fine generally. There has been snow on the high levels and some sharp frosts In the South Island, but the temperatures following tho south-westerly have not been severe.
