N.Z.-BRED SUCCESSES
New Zealand-bred horses were well in the limelight at the Gloucester Park Meeting (Western Australia) on August 20, and no less than three victories were credited to them.
In winning the Collie Handicap Wrecker scored his first win since leaving the Dominion in 1936. He was not unduly bustled in the early part, but when challenged by Logan Derby a furlong from N home he responded particularly well and gained a narrow victory. Wrecker, . who had had 25 starts previously, was backed in sensational style considering his poor record, and his victory was not unexpected to his connections. Rustle continues on his winning way and scored his third successive win' when he took the Bridgetown Handicap in easy fashion. He was 72yds"behind, but this didnot stop him from taking charge early and gomg^on to win as he liked. Considering that he has registered six wins and a second in ten starts in Australia he was at an excellent price. : : , The evergreen Tommy Dillon added another victory to his fine record by annexing the Manjimup Handicap from 48yds behind. This marks his seventh success in the past nine months, and the manner in which.he has shaped leaves the impression that he will continue to pay his way. Incidentally the race was productive o| a sensation, the connections of Meditation, who finished second, being disqualified for six months for allegedly not trying to win. ,
