JAFFA CASUALTIES
TROOPS AND POLICE CHECK TERRORISM
(Received August 27, 10 a.m.) JERUSALEM, August 26. It is officially stated that 16 persons were killed and 30 injured in the Arab | market at Jaffa today by the powerful j bomb explosion which occurred subsequent to sniping, stoning, and. arson incidents. Police fired on Arabs who were attacking police stations and banks. Troops are checking looting at Jaffa and Tel Aviv, and fire brigades are fighting a series of outbreaks of fire, Shops and banks have been closed, and the situation is becoming easier.
