CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) THE CHATEAU, August 26. The Ruapehu Ski Club's championship events were held today. The jump was held late in the morning J* a jump erected behind the club hut at 6000 ft The judging was done by Messrs. Ernst Skadarasy and N A. Campbell, president of the club. The event was won by R. S. Duncan, Nelson, who made three standing jumps of approximately 38ft. S. Bailey, Auckland, was second. Skadarasy then jumped and made an exceptional leap for the particular hill of 70ft. The afternoon was occupied by women's and men's novice races. Miss S Storey won the former, with Miss Fuller (Christchurch) second, and R. A. Krebs (Napier), the latter, with S. J. Coutts (Auckland) second. The novices all made fine runs and the benefits of instruction classes in The Chateau ski school under the direction of Skadarasy were very evident. , The final race was the roped pairs, in which the competitors, man and woman, are tied together by a length of rope, with the women leading. The competitors cover the course as best they can, the man, with no sticks, controlling the length of rope to avoid entanglement. The race gave great amusement to spectators, as many competitors became badly entangled. The winners were Miss Farrelly and A. Plummer, with Miss J. D. Harrison and J. C. McComish second.
