SYNOPSIS OF LAST 24 HOURS.
The anticyclone which has controlled the weather over Xew Zealand during the- past week is now centred over Chatham Island'and is still intense: A cyclone: of moderate depth, is centred north-west of Capo Maria van-Die-men. Winds have been between north-east and south-east but are this morning .mainly north-east. Gales are being experienced.north cf Auckland but elsewhere the force is "moderate to strong. The weather-has continued fair to fine orer the Southern half of the South Island, but over 4he rest of the Dominion has steadily-changed lor .the worse.
