SELECTION METHODS
A correspondent ("Rugbyite"), urging that "the selector should see each team in action periodically and reward the merit of promising players instead of allowing them to be disheartened," deals at length with Wellington selections. The point is made that some players have to leave Wellington to receive recognition, and the case of Reid is stated, this player having played football ''just as brilliant in Wellington as he did for Hawke's Bay last Saturday." In the correspondent's opinion players who have made names for themselves are, when they transfer to Wellington, given preference over promising local players, and it is felt by the writer, that flayers in local second division teams have their chances prejudiced. In support of his views the correspondent cites the cases of several players.
