(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUHCH, August 25. Between 40 and 50 surgeons from all parts of New Zealand will visit Christchurch for the annual conference of the Dominion branch of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, to be held on September 1 and 2. This will be the second time that the branch has met in Christchurch since its formation. The president is Sir Louis Barnett, emeritus-professor of surgery in the University of Otago, and arrangements for the conference are in the hands of Dr. P. Stanley Foster and a committee of Christchurch fellows of the Society, with Dr. J. Leslie as secretary. On the morning of September 1 there will be operations in both theatres at the Christchurch Hospital and subsequently clinical demonstrations will be given. The afternoon will be devoted to a discussion on water-balance in surgery. The second day will again open with operations in the theatres. The rest of the morning will be spent discussing the treatment of acute infection in bone. In the afternoon a series of short papers on interesting surgical subjects will be read. After the clinical meeting th« annual meeting of the branch will be held in the board room of the NortfCanterbury Hospital Board.
