EASTBOURNE AMENITIES
Regret that the council had decided to provide three grass tennis courts at the north-eastern end of the Recreation Ground was voiced in a letter from the Eastbourne Ratepayers' Association received at the meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council last evening. It was pointed out that tennis players were already well provided for by the present public courts and club courts in the borough and it was difficult to understand why this section of the sporting public should be favoured while another section had been excluded from the use of this portion of the recreation ground. The association felt that if better facilities were provided picnic parties would be attracted to the borough. In view of the nature of the soil in the locality it was extremely unlikely that grass courts would stand the wear and tear. The letter was "received-"
