COMMUNICATION AFFECTED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

DANNEVIRKE, This Day. The snowfall in southern Hawke's Bay has put most of the rural telephone lines out of action, Norsewpod, Tataramoa, Ruaroa, Umutaoroa, and Tiratu being cut off from the Dannevirke exchange. Most of the trouble was due to the weight of snow on the lines. Toll calls for north Dannevirke as far as Waipawa were not possible this morning. The fall is general throughout the district, the depth of snow being from three to four inches.
