SUCCESSFUL DANCE
POLICE RELAX DISCIPLINE
St. Francis Hall^vas a very, pleasant place last night when a number of ".Wellington, stalwarts" in the way of the local police held a very successful dance. * The hall had-Been very tastefully decorated with long ribbons of crinkled paper, this in many bright tones, while across* the * stage was a trellis of the same. Bright little electric globes outlined the stage and gallery, and were used effectively in the hall. Supper was set downstairs, the tables being decorated^with coloured paper mats and streamers.
The gallery was'used for a sittingout place, and there was a "500" tournament arranged upstairs for nondancers, which was a very excellent idea. , '
The guests of .honour were Commissioner D. J. Cummings and Mrs. ( Cummings and Miss'Cummings; the superintendent, Mr. JD.; C. Fraser, and Mrs. Fraser; Mr. Ri.-'{''Madden and Mrs. Madden. Senior-Sergeant J. J. Powell was M.C., and the committee consisted of y Senior-Sergeant O'Neill, Sergeant Beard, Detectives Reid, Crist, Northcote, Constables Voullaire, Wills, Miles, Gunn, and Hammond, with Constable Lowe as hon. secretary of the dance.
