HOCKEY TOURISTS
ENGLISH TEAM
ARRIVES
MINISTERIAL RECEPTION
After an extensive tour of the provinces of the South Island the All-Eng-land women's hockey team arrived in Wellington this morning to fulfil its engagement with the Wellington representative team tomorrow. The team, which is under the management of Miss E. J. Warwick, all appear to be in good condition, and after their long run of successes are looking forward to the contest with Wellington.
This morning the tourists were received at a Ministerial reception given by the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W.E. Parry). The Deputy Prime Minister (the Hon. P. Fraser), the Minister of Mines (the Hon. P. C. Webb), and the ,Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) were also present. Among the others present were Miss A. Yorston, president of the.. New Zealand Women's Hockey Association, Mrs. J. Poulter, Miss E. Laycock, Miss I. Pearce, secretary of the New Zealand Women's Hockey Association, Mrs. P. Fraser, Mr. J. W. Heenan, Mf. L. S. P. Butcher, organiser of the English tour, Mr. F. J. Twiss, and Mr. W. A. Jameson, secretary of the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation.
