AIRCRAFT FACTORIES

HOLIDAY AND SUNDAY PAY

Pay in respect to holiday and Sunday work in factories occupied for the purposes of any commercial aircraft service, as defined in the Transport Licensing Act, is affected by the modification of sections 14 and 15 of the Factories Amendment Act, 1936, by Order in Council gazetted last night. The notice is as follows: —"In lieu of the requirements of the said sections relating to the rates of wages to be paid for time worked on holidays or Sundays, the said sections shall be read so as to require that every worker employed on holidays or Sundays on routine inspections or maintenance of machines engaged in regular scheduled air services or of machines intended to be used for routine or normal purposes as distinct from special or unusual purposes shall be paid, in addition to his ordinary rate of pay, at not less than one-half of his ordinary rate of pay for the time worked on such^ holidays or Sundays."
