BOWES PUZZLED
OMISSION FROM TEST
VERITY MAY NOT BE FIT
LONDON, July 5. The statement by the M.G.C. selectors that the Yorkshire bowler W. E. Bowes : was not fit to play in the third Test against Australia has puzzled- Bowes, who told the "News. Chronicle" that he feels as well as ever. "I had a small swelling on the knee at. the beginning.of the season. I have not been receiving regular medical treatment," he said. H. Verity (Yorkshire) has informed the selectors that he' may not be able to play in the third Test owing to aggravated fibrosis behind the left; shoulder making it dispirit for him to turn his arm. ~. r r \
A cablegram received yesterday stated:—ln view of tHe agitation for the inclusion of Bowes in the third Test after his success againstfthe Australians in the Yorkshire match, the selectors point out that they received an intimation ithat he was unfit to play in the Test because of a .Knee disability and consequently. he was not considered. ; '
