BOWLING
PETONE CLUB
The annual meeting of the Petone Bowling Club, presided over by Mr. J. R. Robertson,, was attended by fortyone members.
Mr. C. W. Johnson/of Lower Hutt, was elected a life member.
The following notices of motion, presented by the executive, were carried: (1) That the 'champion pairs games be played with three bowls each player; (2) that this qlub does not support the. proposal ~ for a uniform blazer for the, Wellington centre; (3) that percentage-fours be played this season on the handicap principle and the sixteen .players with the.most,wins at December 31-play1 off to find the winning . rink to play , in the champion games; (4)' that the subscription be £3 10s. reducible by I.os if paid before December 31* of each year. It was also decided that the 10s extra subscription per member should be used as a.fund for the redemption of the mortgage and improvements to the club -property. The club decided to have a sole selector for-the 1938-39 season. < \ It was decided to suggest to the Wellington centre that a ririks tournament should be held in the Hutt Valley in the New Year under the control of the centre. ' '
Three sections are to be entered with the senior pennants for the 1938-39 season. .
Appreciative references were made to the services of the retiring president (Mr, J. R. Robertson), and'the secretary (Mr. O. Silbery). Officers were elected as follows:— President,. Mr. J., Allan ; v past-president, Mr. J. R. Robertson; vice-president, Mr. W. P. Coles; .honorary secretarytreasurer, Mr. O. Silbery; management committee. Messrs. Appleyard, Campbell, Edwards, Gough, Gerkin, arid Linkhorn;. delegate to Wellington centre, Mr. J. W: Johnson; sole- selector, Mr. O. Silbery; games manager, Mr. P. Gerkin; match committee, Messrs. T. McArthur, W. B. Gough, and W.P. Coles; delegates to Hutt Valley tournament committee, Messrs. H. Edlin, P. McArthur, and W. B. Gough; honorary auditors, Messrs. E. S. Jones and W. Pere.
