Capital/, expenditure, estimated at H'£23s,ooG s ?sto be spread over the next five yearfs, was outlined at a special 'meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday. Decisions were made for arrangements to be. set in train, for the provision of a,'tliree-stdrey" isolation block costing £30,000 to £40,000, an antenatal clinic < £3000), and a morgue \ (already authorised), £2000. i 1 Certain qualifications apply to further expenditure, but items in this regard were given in round figures as follows: —Additions to nurses' home, £80,000; five-storey wing of hospital to provide extra accommodation and to replace accommodation lost through the demolition of condemned portions, £100,000; boiler house, £10,000.
It,was shown that over all*the gain, in patients' accommodation woujd be abotit 80 feeds. There were, however, aspects which made the expenditure imperative apart from the consideration solely of extra accommodation.
