WELLINGTON KENNEL CLUB

The winter ribbon parade of the Wellington Kennel Club, held last Thursday, proved most successful. The judges were Messrs. W. Clarke (cocker spaniels and toy breeds), R. Makin (all other sporting breeds, in-. eluding terriers), and H. W. Thompson (non-sporting breeds). Very good entries were received for cocker spaniels, Irish setters, and collies, and included in the total of 75 dogs were two dachshunds, two bull terriers, two curly-coated retrievers, and one chowchow, all uncommon breeds in Wellington. Entries of toy breeds and terriers were very small, and bulldogs and samoyeds were not represented. ■ t , Two prominent exhibitors were G. T. Murphy and E. A. Perrett with their dogs Cornelistone Daphne and Talamoor Treasure Bespectively. The former is an Irish setter by Idstone Benedict from Cornelistone Kowhai, bred by the owner. The other is a wire-haired fox terrier puppy by Milo Mercury from Talamoor Temptress, bred by J. H. Thompson. The judges predict outstanding futures for them. The setter carried off the special ribbons for best in. the open stakes and jn the sporting stakes, best setter (any variety), and best on parade. The terrier won best in the puppy stakes (under 12 months), novice stakes and terrier ; , stakes, and also best terrier on parade. The special ribbon for best in puppy stakes (under six months) was won by M. E. Craig's Irish setter; nonsporting stakes by R. Watson's Alsatian; and the best cocker spaniel on parade by Mrs. H. O. Saunders. M. Howell had the best English setter, P. Doyle the best Labrador retriever, Mrs. J. R. Hunt the best black cocker spaniel, and Mrs. H. O^iivip-TJi-own the best toy "breed,
