BIBLE SOCIETY
MEETING AT KILBIRNIE
The annual meeting of the Kilbirnie branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was recently held in St. Giles Church, there being a fine attendance of women. The Rev. E. J. Orange conducted a very beautiful intercessory service when thoughts and prayers were specially directed to the lands of China, Japan, Spain, and other parts where war and strife prevail. The singing of "Take My Life," by the Maranui Methodists ladies' choir, was greatly appreciated.
Afternoon tea was served in the adjoining schoolroom. Two very delightful items were enjoyed—a "Lullaby," by the ladies' choir, and a duet, "Sleep, Baby, Sleep," by two of the members. The Rev. E. J. Orange presided over the annual meeting.
Owing to- the removal of Mrs. Davis from the district, Mrs. W. Langston was elected president and Miss Mary Mitchell secretary. Special mention was made of the services of Mrs. Davis and Miss Dick, and it was agreed that the very sincere appreciation of the meeting be conveyed to them. Mrs. F. N. Martin was re-elect-ed a vice-president, and Mesdames J. Irvine and C. J. H. Davidson were added. The collectors for this year are Mesdames Buckingham, Mackay, Curtis, and F. H. Porter.
Miss Fawcett addressed the meeting and Mr. Orange pronounced the Benediction. ■>-*.-
