PALMERSTON N., This Day. Heavy rain on Tuesday night and more on Wednesday made the tracks heavy and inclined to be greasy tor yesterday's work at Awapuni, and the programme was not as interesting as anticipated. The course proper was open for fast work, the flags being well over towards the outside fence.

Entheos had Clarion Call as a com- ! panion in a work-out over a mile, but they were not after time. However, i the pace was increased over the last three furlongs, which occupied 41$ sec. Sky Full and "Warehi were associated over seven furlongs, the former being in front at the finish afte^ taking lmin 42sec for the full distance. Hirangi beat Taitoa over half a mile on the course proper in 56sec, a useful effort in the going. Oratory, looking very well, did easy pace work. Segra was going smoothly at the end of three furlongs run in 40 2-ssec. Merryman wasted no time in another three-furlong scamper, his time, 39 3-ssec, being the best of the morning over the distance. , Hasty Maid and Stroller ran half a mile in 56sec, and Aurora's Love was not required to do her best in running the last five of seven furlongs in lmin 15sec. _. _ ~ , High Peer was clear of Fine Gold at the end of half a mile run in 56sec, the former, going very nicely. Tail Light and Pango were together throughout a gallop over a mile, completed in lmin" 55sec. The sectional times were three furlongs in 43 l-ssec and six in lmin 26sec. Quadroon ran an easy seven furlongs in lmin 39 4-ssec, the first five being covered in lmin llsec. He was not out after time. Barley Almond and Sporting Gift were in front of Merry Thought at the end of half a mile, which took 56 3-ssec. Barley Almond appears to be in excellent order. Catalogue and Conveyer were on terms throughout six furlongs in Imm 26 l-ssec, the first three occupying 43 2-ssec. , , Royal Limond was worked over a mile, averaging 15sec to the furlong. They were on terms approaching the third, however, and with more pace on Power Chief's jumping improved, the pair giving a faultless exhibition over the three brushes and the hencoop. G R.
