AGREEMENT EXPECTED

The "Daily Telegraph" understands that the Anglo-German discussions now taking place will shortly result in an agreement by Germany to accept responsibility for the Austrian dfebt, conditional on a fresh basis being reached for trade between Britain and Germany and Empire countries, and rearrangement of the interest rates on the Dawes and Young loans. Britain has pointed out that the Dawes and Young loans arc matters for the bondholders, to whom the German proposals were being submitted.

STILL NO ADVANCE

TRADE DISCUSSIONS BRITAIN AND AUSTRALIA (Received June 29, 9 a.m.) LONDON, June 28. The political correspondent of the Australian Associated Press states that another meeting between British and Australian Ministers took place this morning, at the conclusion of which little advance could be reported on last week's position. The discussions will be resumed on June 30, when it is hoped the position may be clearer, but apart, from the Anglo-American complications progress was not made easier by the difficulties between Australia and America.

The Australian delegation intimates that whilst Australia is very keen on a trade agreement .with Germany it is not aware, as the "Daily Telegraph" states, that the question of settlement of the Austrian debt to Britain is linked up with matters as affecting trade between Germany and the Empire.
