"I am sure that your assistance will be readily given," said the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. L. Martin), addressing the Veterinary Associations conference yesterday on the subject it horse breeding and the position regarding the breeding of light horses suitable for remount and riding purposes. 1 "The Government has dunnjj the year put into operation the Remounts Encouragement Act of 1914, and regulations dealing with the working of the Act have been gazetted," he said "The New Zealand Racing Conference, Nev. r Zealand Trotting Conference, and other interested bodies have been most helpful in getting the necessary organisation in working order for the next horse breeding season. It is hoped that by the encouragement given by means of subsidy to the owners of suitable stallions a marked stimulus will be given to the breeding of horses of the general utility type."
