FIREMAN'S FUNERAL
THE LATE MR. A. S. BURROWS
More than fifty fire brigadesmen in full equipment attended the funeral of the late Mr. A. S. Burrows, deputy superintendent the Petone Fire Brigade, yesterday afternoon.
There was a short service at the Fire Station, conducted by the Rev. H. S. I. Kenney. The coffin, which was draped with the Union Jack and had the full uniform and equipment of the deceased placed on it, and wreaths were carried on one of the Petone lire engines to the xaiia Cemetery. Fire engines of the local and visiting brigades followed. The Wellington Fire Brigade sent an engine and squad under Deputy Superintendent J. Creeke, Lower Hutt an engine and squad under Deputy Superintendent W: J. Drieberg, and Upper Hutt an engine and squad under the secretary .of the brigade, Mr. G. H. Guthrie. Station-Officer O. Silbery (Petone) was in charge of the parade of firemen.
The chief mourners were Mrs. Bur* rows and her two sons.
The pall-bearers were the following members of the Petone brigade: Firemen Kennedy, Home, Wilson, Packwood, Turner, and Haines. Those who attended the service included the Mayor of Petone . (Mr. ,G. London), Superintendent J. P. Gaynor. and Messrs. J. Kerr (chairman), J. Huggan, and L. Monkman, of th# Petone Fire Board.
