VERGE OF STARVATION

THOUSANDS IN CHINA

FURTHER FUNDS WANTED

An appeal for a further £3000 to alleviate starvation in China caused by the cutting of dikes at the Yellow River has been received by the Red Cross Far East Relief Fund organisation from Dr. Robert B. Grey, of Hankow, who sent the following cablegram: "Thousands are on the verge of starvation due to the cutting of the dikes of the Yellow River. Organising relief, need £3000. If council sanctions, cable money and reply Hong Kong Bank, Hankow."

Dr. Grey has been advised that his proposal is under consideration by the Far East Relief Committee, but because of its future liabilities and the sending of two further doctors it is considered that funds are now insufficient to meet the request, Recehtly £2000 was sent to the International Red. Cross Committee at Hankow. ■
