PURCHASES OF LAND

AREAS IN HUTT VALLEY

Cabinet approval of the following land purchases for the erection of houses under the Government's housing scheme was announced today by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary in jCharge of Housing (Mr. J. A. Lee):— Auckland.—Areas in Point Chevalier sufficient for approximately 157 houses; areas' in New Lynn sufficient for 20 houses; an area in Avondale sufficient for 2 houses. Wellington.—An area of land in Jackson and Adelaide Streets, Petone, sufficient for 100 houses; an area in Lower Hutt sufficient for 63 houses. Te Puke.—Land in Cameron Road, Te Puke,, sufficient for 13 houses. Tauranga.—An area in Cameron Road and Hunter and Wrigley Streets sufficient for 11 houses. Christchurch. —An area in Lyttelton arid Frankleigh Streets, Spreydon, to accommodate eight house units; an area in Harewood Road, Sails, Union, and Chapel Streets, Papanui, sufficient for 20 houses. ■'•■ Dunedin. —An area in Rolla Street, North East Valley, to accommodate five houses.
