WELLINGTON MATCH

PROSPECTS FOR TONIGHT'S GAMES The Australians defeated Wairarapa on their merits and the score of 7 to 1 in matches suggests their strength in all phases, but it is more than likely. that the Wellington team should be able to hold the visitors to a ilraw and even to defeat them in matches to be played at the Town Hall, starting at 7.30 this evening. Wellington's team has been given plenty of practice in ranking matches for-some weeks and the four players, E. A. Roussell, H. D. Reid, Misses N. Fleming, and F. Fernie, are playing finely. Roussell has recently defeated Hawksworth, who last night defeated Craske, the Australian champion, and in combination with Miss Fleming, he has beaten Mr, .and Mrs. Hawksworth. Reid has .been playing well in ranking matches and his great reach is an asset, while Miss Fernie is one of the best women doubles players in New Zealand. The Wellington Association has Installed special lighting for the matches which begin at 7.30 with a mixed double between Reid and Miss Fernie and T Thompson and Miss Horsburgh. And the prospects for a match of considerable interest, marked by brilliant badminton on both sides, are excellent.
