ANNUAL REPORT

[The annual report of the New Zealand Alpine and Rock Garden Society states that the society was indebter to Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Ewen, Mr. am Mrs. Fleming, and Mr. and Mrs. H G. Teagle for allowing members ti visit their gardens. The society hai co-operated in making Arbor Day i success, and several new rock gar dens had been established during th' year. The Riddiford Park rockerie were undergoing an extensive over haul and general clean-up, in .whicl work Mr. E. Hutt was giving the so ciety valuable assistance. A referenc library had been established. The report refers to deaths of Mi J. G. Helyar, Mr. Wm. Watts, Mr. G W. Parker, and Mrs. Wilson, and ex presses appreciation of the work dom by them, especially by Messrs. Helya and Watts, for the society. The report mentions the good wor! done by the Native Plant Preservatioi Society, which is now a separate so ciety but which was launched by thi Rock Garden Society. A list of plants in danger of ex tinction had been compiled and cut tings, seeds, or seedlings had beei preserved in botanical gardens or re serves.
