WOMEN'S HOCKEY

PLAY IN RAIN DECISIVE SENIOR WINS Wind and rain made playing conditions unpleasant for women hockey players on Saturday, but all games were played. All the wins in the senior A grade were decisive, the highest being obtained by College Old Girls against Training College. Lower scores were obtained in the senior B

grade and in some eases Wins were very close. Results are as follows:—: Senior A. —Hutt United 0, Hutt Valley 0; Poneke 6, Varsity 1; C.O.G. 8, Training College 1; T.O.G. I 5, T.O.G. II 1. Senior 8.—C.0.G. 4, Hospital 0; Karori West 2, Wenerei 0; T.O.G. 2, Petone T.O.G. 0; St. Joseph's a bye. Upper Hutt won from Clinic by default. | C.O.G. WIN AGAIN. I C.O.G. again proved too strong for their opposition and they soundly defeated Training College at Karori. Training College played well in the first spell, but were no match for the faster C.O.G. team. The score at halftime was 4-nil in C.O.G.'s favour. Although play was fairly even in the second spell, Training College could not keep the C.O.G. forwards out, and four more goals were added to the score. Training College's goal was scored by Miss E. Renner, who made a good run up the right wing. Goals were scored for C.O.G. by Misses V. Munn (3), W. McTigue (2), N. Prestney (2), and I. Pickering. The umpires were Miss M. Wilkins and Mr. S. Brugh. PONEKE TOO GOOD. Poneke were not extended greatly to beat University by five goals at Newtown Park. Although University initiated some good movements, they had neither the finish nor the penetration- to carry them through, and ths Poneke defence was at all times sound. The score at half-time was 3-1 in Poneke's favour. In the second spell Poneke completely dominated play, and added three more goals. Scorers tor Poneke were Misses E. Rarleson (4) and J. Riley (2).

Messrs. A. Roxburgh and R. J. Lloyd were the umpires. T.O.G. I BEAT T.O.G. 2. The superiority of T.O.G. 1 over T.O.G. 2 was shown at Newtown Park, when the former team won 5-0. T.O.G. 1 were better in all departments of the game, and although T.O.G. 2 played strongly they never looked like gaining the upper hand. The scorers were Misses S. Jackson, J. Mack (2), and G. Budgen (2). The umpires were Messrs. A. Roxburgh and R. J. Lloyd. HUTT UNITED SOUNDER. Hutt United showed themselves to be the sounder team whdn they met Hutt Valley at Wob'urn. The Hutt Valley players did not combine very well, and what opportunities they obtained were lost. The most prominent player on the field was Miss M. Dawber, centre-forward "for Hutt United, who scored four o£ her side's six goals. The other goals were netted by Miss J. McDowell and Mrs. F. Sundgren. Mr. A. J. Ross was the umpire. JUNIORS.
