Napier.—ln the Magistrate's Court Edwin Charles Batt, a labourer, was sentenced to two months' imprisonment on a charge of obtaining money by falsely re- . presenting that he was a detective. On the suggestion of the Magistrate a charge of assuming the designation of a police officer was withdrawn. The Magistrate described the case as impudent.—P.A.
