CHATHAM CUP GAMES

NO SECOND ROUND SURPRISES

DIAMOND WIN IN EXTRA TIME

Results of the second local round of Chatham Cup games played on Saturday were according to expectations, Petone, Seatoun, Waterside, and Diamond going on to the semi-finals. On the Basin Reserve Petone beat Marist by the odd goal in three, scoring the winning goal when extra time seemed likely, and on the other ground Seatoun ran rip 8 goals against Hospital's 3. At Seatoun Waterside were too strong for Scottish Wanderers, whom they beat 5-1, and at Petone Technical Old Boys held Diamond to a 3-all draw at the end of ninety minutes, only to lose 6-3 in the extra time. First B Division teams played the last championship games of the first round, and both the leaders, Swifts in first position and Institute Old Boys in second, retained their respective places, though Institute were run close by Lower Hutt, the team in third place. Swifts beat Onslow 11-3. Stop Out took the winning points from Miramar Rangers by 3 goals to 1, and Nada and Korokoro played a 2-all draw.

Heavy rain on all grounds made accurate football almost impossible.
